Hair Transplant with FUT Method

This is a primitive hair transplant method that was more common in the past, and is still being used in some hair transplant centers. FUT is an abbreviation of Follicular Unit Transplantation.

This hair transplant method which had been used almost everywhere in the world in the 1980s had made some people happy, yet also disappointed many others.

How the hair is transplanted in the FUT method?

In the method called FUT, a scalp is removed with a length of 20 - 25 cm and width of 1 - 2 cm, and the hair follicles in the skin are extracted one by one from the removed area and the separated hair follicles are transplanted to the transplantation area.

What are the disadvantages of the FUT method?

The most important disadvantage of hair transplantation with the FUT method is that it causes a permanent scar in the area where the scalp is removed. Planting using this method is unnatural. In general, the transplanted hair may grow vertically, and as it is impossible to determine the transplantation direction this could cause hair to grow in curls.
